The Widow’s Prayer

The Widow's PrayerDear Lord, I yield my life to your sovereign will.
My hopes, my dreams, I trust you still.
The pain, the fear, I lay at your feet.
Only you know what is best for me.
Your plan, your will, your path let me see.
Dispel the fog that clouds my mind, speak Lord, let me know I will be fine. Help me follow you fully, especially when I don’t understand, for I know you alone have the master plan. I yield, I trust, what more can I do, my life is not about me, but it’s all about You! Amen

The Widow’s Welcome

One day I heard a knock at my door, it was so unexpected.
I wondered who it could be.
As I opened the door he spoke rapidly, Hi, it’s me…I know you’re weren’t expecting me but I am here.
Excuse me, I asked but who might you be?
Oh dear you don’t recognize me, I know this is a surprise, but I was told to come…
My name is death, and please allow me to introduce fear, pain, heartache, and sleepless nights, they travel with me where ever I go.
Oh, and how can I forget, loneliness, and depression, I couldn’t get rid of them if I tried, enough with the introductions… Welcome to widowhood may we come in?

The Widow’s Walk

The widow’s walk is not always clear; most times her path is undefined.
But she walks.
Minutes into hours, weeks, months and even years.
Her stride may vary fast, medium, slow, but always at a pace all her own.
She walks.
Through winding roads, up rocky hills, through dry valleys
Climbing mountains, and conquering fears;
But she walks
Stepping forward though it feels like two steps back.
Hoping, praying, trusting, believing…denying, changing, ruling, and reigning
Conquering, overcoming, and triumphantly living.
As she walks the widow’s walk.
