The Widow’s Prayer

The Widow's PrayerDear Lord, I yield my life to your sovereign will.
My hopes, my dreams, I trust you still.
The pain, the fear, I lay at your feet.
Only you know what is best for me.
Your plan, your will, your path let me see.
Dispel the fog that clouds my mind, speak Lord, let me know I will be fine. Help me follow you fully, especially when I don’t understand, for I know you alone have the master plan. I yield, I trust, what more can I do, my life is not about me, but it’s all about You! Amen

The Widow’s Welcome

One day I heard a knock at my door, it was so unexpected.
I wondered who it could be.
As I opened the door he spoke rapidly, Hi, it’s me…I know you’re weren’t expecting me but I am here.
Excuse me, I asked but who might you be?
Oh dear you don’t recognize me, I know this is a surprise, but I was told to come…
My name is death, and please allow me to introduce fear, pain, heartache, and sleepless nights, they travel with me where ever I go.
Oh, and how can I forget, loneliness, and depression, I couldn’t get rid of them if I tried, enough with the introductions… Welcome to widowhood may we come in?

The Widow’s Walk

The widow’s walk is not always clear; most times her path is undefined.
But she walks.
Minutes into hours, weeks, months and even years.
Her stride may vary fast, medium, slow, but always at a pace all her own.
She walks.
Through winding roads, up rocky hills, through dry valleys
Climbing mountains, and conquering fears;
But she walks
Stepping forward though it feels like two steps back.
Hoping, praying, trusting, believing…denying, changing, ruling, and reigning
Conquering, overcoming, and triumphantly living.
As she walks the widow’s walk.

Widows Are Special To God

When you lose your spouse it is easy to believe that you are no longer special. You begin to say goodbye to the possibility of special moments; celebrations; laughter and you may think there is no one who really cares. I just want to encourage you, God cares, He sees, and He knows everything about you.

As a widow He is especially mindful of you and has made provision for you. Don’t give up, hold on, trust God for a brighter day – He is faithful to His Word and His promises are yea and Amen.

Here are a few reminders of God’s concern for you:

Deuteronomy 10:18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

Jeremiah 49:11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.

Psalms 146:9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

Proverbs 15:25 The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

Zechariah 7:10 And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

Fear Not

Faith in Five is designed to help you build your faith with 5 scriptures.

Even though everything about your life is different, you don’t have to be afraid because our God remains the same.

1. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I
will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

2. “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” Psalms 118:6

3. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7

4. “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my
helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Hebrews 13:5-6

5. “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than
many sparrows.” Luke 12:7

Nevertheless At Thy Word

Scripture Reading: Luke 5:1-11

Luke 5:5 “And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”

The scripture today allows us to see we can get more, do more, be more simply by obeying the word of the Lord.

Simon and his crew of trained fisherman had toiled all night. They were professionals, fishing was their trade, but with all of their knowledge and experience they toiled all night and had taken nothing.

As widows let’s keep in mind no matter what we think we know our ears and hearts must always remain open and ready to hear and obey God’s directions. Even after we have done our best obedience will always yield more.

Let down your defenses, let go of your fears and receive the greatness God has prepared.

Nevertheless at thy word…I yield and obey.

Luke 5:6 “And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.”

Blessings!
